Meet our Host
Barker College is honoured to be welcoming the Round Square delegates to Sydney as host of the 2026 Round Square International Conference marking Round Square’s 60th anniversary. Set on a leafy campus in Hornsby on Sydney’s upper North Shore, where visitors will experience a vibrant community that is outward-looking, globally minded and deeply committed to service and character education.
A Round Square school
As a Round Square School, Barker is actively embedding the Round Square IDEALS into school life, we aim to shape students who are courageous, compassionate and prepared to respond to global challenges. The School sees Round Square membership as a powerful way to connect young people with meaningful cross-cultural experiences and to channel their passion into service, leadership and stewardship of the planet.
A coeducational, inclusive environment
Barker College is a coeducational school from Pre-K to Year 12, reflecting a belief that young people flourish when they learn, lead and serve together in an environment that values diversity and mutual respect. This inclusive approach is central to the way Barker prepares students for life beyond the school gates, where collaboration across cultures, genders and backgrounds is essential.
Learning, leadership and character
Barker’s program is rigorous and inquiry-focused, encouraging students to think deeply, question thoughtfully and apply their learning in real-world contexts. Character education is intentionally woven into college life. Whether it be in academic classes within house periods, sport or co-curricular activities. Student voice and agency is encouraged and supported throughout a students Barker journey.
Rich co-curricular opportunities
Visitors will encounter a school alive with activity in the arts, sport, STEAM, robotics, debating, music, cadets and more, all designed to develop confidence, creativity and teamwork. These diverse opportunities help Barker students discover their passions, build resilience and form friendships that extend far beyond their time at school.
A warm Australian welcome
In 2026 Barker will open its campus and its community to the world. Guests can expect generous hospitality, thoughtful cultural and service experiences, and a joyful celebration of Round Square’s IDEALS in action, as Barker students and staff work alongside their international peers to create Visions of the Future, from an Ancient Land.
