RSIC 2026 Program Overview
Across six vibrant days, delegates are immersed in a high‑energy conference experience that blends authentic Australian hospitality, rich cultural exchange, exploration of and meaningful service opportunities in and around the local area surrounding Barker College.
Day 1: Australia Fair
The journey begins on Australia Fair Day, as delegates arrive at Barker College and are immersed in a festival of traditional and cultural Australian activities and performances. Tours of the campus, Baraza group allocations and an information address and registration to help students feel at ease, before they meet their host families over afternoon tea and prepare for two unforgettable nights in homestay. Staying with an Australian family gives students the chance to experience everyday Australian life, share meals and stories around the table, and build genuine connections that often last well beyond the conference. It is an opportunity to see local customs up close, and to feel truly “at home” on the other side of the world. Adult delegates connect over an evening dinner and briefing, building the network that will support rich conversations throughout the conference.
Day 2: Australian Story
On Day 2, Australian Story draws everyone into the heart of the theme, team games and a moving Opening Ceremony that traces Australia’s history, where we stand today, and our shared vision for tomorrow. A keynote speaker deepens this exploration, and Baraza discussions give delegates space to reflect, question and dream together late into the day.
The evening opens an opportunity for adult delegates to network over an entertaining dinner party.
Day 3: Service and Contribution
The middle of the conference brings the Australian Experience and Service days, where learning moves beyond the classroom into the city and the bush. Delegates rotate through the Urban Challenge and Service Carousel streams, applying leadership, teamwork and problem-solving to real-world contexts while discovering Sydney from new perspectives.
A highlight of RSIC 2026 is the service experience, where delegates step off the city streets and into the tranquillity of the Australian bushland. Surrounded by towering gums, birdsong and the scent of eucalyptus, students will help shape a new parkland that families will one day wander, play and relax in together. It is more than a day outdoors; it is a chance to feel the earth under your feet, to work shoulder to shoulder with new friends, and to know that the trees you plant and the spaces you create will become part of someone else’s happiest memories. In this quiet, beautiful setting, service becomes something deeply personal – a tangible legacy of care, connection and hope for the future. Alongside this, the service program turns to one of the most urgent challenges facing our world today: fast fashion and its impact on people and the planet.
Delegates will be invited to look closely at their own habits, to question where clothes come from and what happens when we consume more than our world can sustain. In a powerful “Crowd Sourcing” activity, students will stand before a confronting mountain of discarded garments, physically seeing and feeling the sheer scale of waste created by fast fashion. Through guided reflection, storytelling and practical, hands-on activities, they will explore how society’s patterns of overconsumption have real human and environmental costs – and, importantly, discover simple, powerful steps each person can take right now to make a difference. In this space, service is not just something that happens on a single day, but a new way of thinking and living that students can carry home and share with their communities.
Day 4: Sydney Adventure Experience
Across Sydney, the Urban Challenge becomes an unforgettable adventure that turns the city into your classroom, playground and inspiration. You, your team and Game Master will find yourselves solving clues and chasing challenges whilst walking across the horizontal stretch of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, taking in sweeping views of the sparkling harbour before descending into the historic Rocks area to uncover the stories of the city’s earliest days. You’ll stand in the shadow of the Sydney Opera House, feel the energy of the reinvented Barangaroo precinct along the water’s edge, and then hop on a ferry to glide across the harbour and under the Harbour Bridge itself, seeing the skyline light up around you. One moment you’re problem‑solving in bustling precincts, the next you’re sharing stories over a vibrant dinner in Chinatown, surrounded by colour, culture and incredible food. Every station, every viewpoint and every conversation is designed to stretch your comfort zone, deepen your connection to Sydney and show you how much you can achieve together in a single, extraordinary day.
Day 5: Tomorrow's Actions
RSIC 2026 concludes on Friday with a Closing Ceremony and in true Australian style, a joyful BBQ dinner and Bush Dance that celebrates new friendships and the global Round Square spirit.
Day 6: Departures
As delegates depart on October 3rd, they do so not only with unforgettable memories of Sydney, but with a deeper understanding of their power to serve, to lead and to imagine a better future from this ancient land.
